i see no reason for getting an 18volt i've used both and the 14.4 is a BEAST! i've dropped this drill off a 12 foot ladder then down a flight of steps and didnt even scratch it, the battery popped out thats it. the precision of the variable speed trigger is awesome works perfect for tiny holes or big holes..large screws or small. this drill has enough power to tweak your wrist if youre not holding on tight so it has enough power for most jobs on a construction site. battery life is superb you can run drywall screws for a few hours on a full charge and when that one is done grab the other battery off the charger. this drill is perfectly balanced too it just feels good and it makes work more enjoyable. this is definatly a MANS drill this aint no cheap B&D or Skill this baby is built to last. its expensive but worth every penny...maybe the last cordless drill that you will ever buy.Get more detail about DEWALT DC983KA 14.4-Volt Ni-Cad 1/2-Inch Cordless Drill/Driver Kit.
